I am taking Creating Wellness: Psychological and Spiritual aspects of healing. So I had to listen to a relaxation recording and blog about how it made me feel. Best homework ever!!!! I am here to say I feel really good right now when I should honestly be asleep, probably should have waited until I got up later in the day. But I am relax and feeling no stress about completing this assignment.
This recording was teaching me how to think myself into relaxing, power of persuasion. As I listen to the gentle voice through my earphones and repeated in my head what he said as I took my breaths I could feel my body reacting. I had to persuade my body to redirect the blood flow from the center of my body to my arms and hands. I could feel the warmth build in my appendages as I laid on my couch. I could not lift my arms in the middle of this, it was like a heavy blanket had been tossed over them.
I honestly didn't think at first I could do this but it worked. As I came out of the "trance" by redirecting my blood flow back to the center I could feel my hands and arms begin to cool off and the heaviness dissipate. I could then move around and begin to open my eye, feeling like I just woke up from a nice afternoon nap.
I think I am going to do this relaxation technique more because I feel really good right now and relaxed enough to actually fall asleep with ease and maybe not toss and turn all night. I hope my classmates enjoyed this activity and they feel good too.
Where did you find the relaxation recording?
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful experience you were able to achieve with the relaxation recording. I was not as fortunate to have had a similar experience. I tried several times to relax, but it just wasn't happening for me.I'm hoping things were just to hectic around here for me to enjoy the benefits you did. I'll keep trying, maybe once things settle down from my daughter and her boyfriend moving in I will get some peace and quiet. Congrats on your results.

Hello Crystal,
ReplyDeleteI tried the relaxation technique this morning which surprisingly energized me to navigate the blog posts. I still like the old fashion method of a fine glass of sangiovese and listening to my favorite station SPA.

It looks like this worked really well for you. I guess I have to just take the time when no one is home, highly unlikely and just listen to it again. I had no luck at all with the tape.
ReplyDeleteThere are some really good apps for smart phones that have similar background music to help relax
