Unit 7

I remember getting comfortable on the couch, listening to the sound of the waves crashing about. I remember trying to picture a wise person, next thing I know my 11 year old is waking me up telling me the recording was over. Granted I was tired yet restless and probably would not have gone to sleep on my own. I tried to listen to it again to get on the words being said but then again went back to step 4. These relaxation sessions really work for me. Since starting this class I have been much calmer at handling stressful situations than I use to. Even the crazy stuff my kids do doesn't bother me too much anymore, I tend not to lose my temper as bad when I have to get on to them now. I even went as far as downloading apps on my iPhone and listening to them when I go to bed at night. I remember starting it and then I am waking up to the sound of my morning alarm. Awesome! I really plan on continuing the use of the relaxation pieces because they help calm my mind and my body. They have helped me find piece within myself and my life. I hope everyone else has enjoyed them and this class as much as I have.
Unless you have been through a certain situation you cannot help a person going through it. You can study nutrition and health and wellness, teach people how to eat better, exercise and lose weight, but if you have not had to fight this same battle it is difficult to understand what a patient or client is going through with their weight issues. Clients have to be able know you understand how they feel and that you can lead them to their goals. Teaching someone how to get in touch with their inner being is no different, you have to have experienced a clear subtle mind and how to forgive in order to lead a person to this. Many teachers grow with their students and learn a lot from them just as the student learns from the teacher. It is important that our psychological, physical and spiritual being are developed in order for us to understand what the student find out about his or herself.

  1. Yes, meditation can really put you at ease. I went to sleep one time :-). I think it was because I was so tired and I choose to start my meditation exercise when I should have been taking a nap. Meditation really has helped me to go within and find the true meaning of my life and what is important to me. I can escape to my fanasty land or visit a love one. It has also benefited me in claim Divine Health for things I suffer with in my body.

  2. Crystal,

I've experienced the same wonderful effects of being more calm with my kids and in general. I've also been searching for apps and using them to relax at night. I'm habitually sleep deprived so I would love to attempt these during the day without falling asleep. I usually have so much to do that I can't afford to be falling asleep in the middle of the day though. I hope that with a more restful sleep that I will be able to do these exercises during the day and reach that level of relaxation, without sleeping :). I also agree with you that clients need to know that you have been where they are if they are to have faith that what you are asking them is doable. That age old phrase, talking the talk and walking the walk comes to mind.

    Great post!
